Cycalona ‘Clonie’ Gowen
Introduced to the game by her boyfriend’s dad, Clonie started playing online poker for real money on weekends before competing locally. National recognition followed soon when she finished in the Top 10 at the WPT (World Poker Tour) Costa Rica Classic, winning the event on Ladies’ Night at the WPT in 2003. The 40 year-old featured at the Ultimate Poker Challenge as a guest commentator, and also at the 888.com Women’s Poker UK Open and at the Gaming Club World Poker Championship. She hosts charity events and tournaments frequently, and is also a poker school’s partner. She is among only 5 players who have won 3 or more titles of ‘Poker After Dark’.
Jennifer Harman
Born in Reno, Nevada, Harman is often found at the tables of Bellagio in Las Vegas. Having learnt how to play the game from her father at a tender age of 8 years, she turned pro at 21. She won the WSOP deuce-to-seven event in 2000, and shockingly enough, it was the first time she had ever tried the game! She holds the record for the most amount of money won in a single hand, a staggering $1.7 million in one pot.
Annie Duke
The top cash winner among women in the WSOP, Annie Duke was born in New Hampshire. While pursuing her masters in Cognitive Psychology, Duke learnt to play poker on a trip to Las Vegas with her brother, Howard Lederer. It didn’t take her too long to get good at it and she soon started using it as a money making tool. She then gave up her studies for the game and won the WSOP Tournament of Champions in 2004 and the NBC Heads-up Poker Championship in 2010 among many other honours.
Cyndy Violette
Having moved with her parents to Las Vegas at the age of 12, Cyndy was a dealer at the casinos before finally finding her love for poker. The WSOP Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo Event in 2004 saw her claim 1st place. She says winning was always her dream, and feels honoured that Donald Trump is among her fans.
